The greatest time of the year is almost here!!  Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale is around this corner!  The name of the game is shopping early, fast, and smart so efficiency is key!  I’m here to give you a road map of the sale and a game plan for scoring all you want and need.

What Makes This Sale so Special?

Unlike most sales where stores discount items that will soon be out of season or off trend, Nordstrom Anniversary Sale deeply discounts BRAND NEW, ON-TREND key items for the upcoming season.  GENIUS!  Once the sale is over, those same items you scored go back up to normal price.  With thoughtful shopping, you can outfit your entire fall wardrobe with timeless pieces you will wear for years to come.

Important Timeline:

• July 9 : Icon Pre-Shop in Stores
• July 9 and 10: Icon and Ambassador Pre-Shop in Stores
• July 11: Icon and Ambassador Pre-Shop Online
• July 12-18: Early Access for Nordstrom Cardmembers
• July 19- August 4: Anniversary Sale Open to the Public (prices go up August 5)

How to Devise A Game Plan

History tells us the best stuff sells out fast, and most recently we discovered these items are often not restocked. That means you have to shop smart! Shake off the fact that it’s July and August and get your mind in “Fall 2019 mode.” Have a plan!

1. Know When You Can Start Shopping.

As you can see above, Nordstrom Debit and Credit Card holders get “early access” to the sale.  This is crucial.  In years past, the hottest pieces that sold out early were restocked during the sale.  NOT SO FOR LAST YEAR.  The only time you got lucky was when someone was courteous enough to return your desired item in your size before the sale ended. 

Apply for a Nordstrom Card before the sale to get the earliest access.  If you don’t want a credit card, sign up for The Nordy Club which was formerly called the Rewards Program.  You won’t have early access, but there are additional perks.  New Nordy Club members receive an extra $60 bonus note if you sign up before July 10 (right before the sale) and existing Nordy Club members receive an extra $40 bonus note good through July 15 that can be used during early access of the sale. The Nordy Club earns you rewards at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Haute Look. 

2. Shop Online Instead of in-store During the First Few Days. 

If you’ve ever been in-store during the first few days of the sale, you can vouch for how insane it is.  The Nordstrom employees are sincerely peppy, happy, and helpful, but there is nothing quite as efficient as hitting “purchase” from the comfort of your own home!

3. Order Several Sizes. 

Okay, please don’t get crazy and ridiculous here but if you’re uncertain about a size, get both!  Chances are your desired size will be out of stock if you wait until it arrives at your doorstep and decide you need an exchange.  Save yourself the grief and get both, and then please be kind and return within the sale window so someone else can snag it at that same fabulous price!

4. Take Advantage of Curbside-Pickup. 

There is little much more gratifying than placing your order online and driving up two hours later to have it delivered directly through your window!  Praise!!  I love this option from Nordy’s, and it’s especially helpful when you need an item quickly but don’t feel like braving the inside lines.  Simply place your order and select “curbside pickup” at checkout.  You’ll receive a text message that it’s been received and a followup message once it’s ready with instructions on how to let them know you’ve arrived.  

5. Schedule Your Double and Triple Points Days Accordingly. 

These big spending days will pay off with a Nordstrom Note you can use later on down the line! It makes sense to use your multiplying days when you will benefit from them the most/spend the most.

6. Shop Those Things Most Likely to Sell Out Quickly First. 

Don’t worry about kids or men’s which are much less likely to sell out.  Focus on the LADIES and get it while you can!  As I mentioned above, don’t rely on restocks lest your heart be broken!  The Nordstrom brands are more likely to be restocked, so snag items like Nike as soon as you can!
