Summer hit Dallas HARD this past weekend.  I mean, I feel like we had about five days of Spring and then BAM! 94 degrees.  Ouch!  The normal temperature for yesterday was 80 and yet we had the pleasure of  roasting in nearly 100 degree weather.  It happens every year, but it still somehow takes me by surprise as if I didn’t know it’s coming.  Was I this hot last year? Yep! Did I survive it?  Just barely!  My scorching summer survival plan went into full swing last night.  I threw on this super light and breezy cotton dress and headed out for a frozen margarita!  It’s got a smocked back and short slip underneath, and it really does fit the comfort bill.  I am wearing a comfortable medium, but a small could have been a bit more complimentary and cinched in the waist area.  Most reviews said it ran true to size, if not slightly small.  It really is the perfect weight and material for a hot day, when you still want to stay cool.

On that note, have you noticed yourself buying tons of blue and white striped things?  I definitely have.  And it’s not because it’s my typically favorite pattern or something, it’s just that it’s EVERYWHERE and it’s so cute!  Designers are gifting us pants, two-piece outfits, dresses, tops, and even swimsuits in beautiful cuts in this adorable trend so don’t be surprised if your closet starts having a nautical feel just like mine.  One of the reasons I love the trend is it really does have that “Out to Sea” or “Take Me to the Hamptons” feel.  It’s preppy and fun, and I’m all over it!  Anybody can pull it off and make it their own.  Check out a few items I’ve fallen in love with below and let me know if you find any more!
