Does Age Define Your Wardrobe?
I’m not the kind of person that thinks age prohibits a person from wearing a particular thing. Fifty year old woman who works out and is proud of her legs? Bust out those high-waisted white shorts, Lady! Mom in her forties who does Pilates like it’s going out of style? Work that bikini, Mama! But I do know some things are a little shocking and surprising to see on certain ages. You don’t really expect a crop top on a 70 year old. Kind of like you don’t expect a seven-year-old girl to wear a three-piece business suit. But it doesn’t mean it’s WRONG, it’s just a little surprising to the eye. Still, I stick with my “YOLO” approach. If it makes you feel great, and you’re not being disrespectful to the environment around you (don’t try to wear that crop top to visit historic churches in Europe), I say DO YOU!
The Cutout Dress — No Age Restrictions!
The cutout dress is a really fun way for women of all ages to tastefully show a little skin. The options out there are endless! Some show more skin than others, some place the opening more on the sides, and some have the opening in the upper stomach area. But regardless, designers seem to have figured out that the most complimentary place to have a cutout is above the belly button, where most of us don’t have excess chubs from those late-night glasses of wine. You might resist me, but trust me when I say you should give this trend a shot! Play with styles and colors and placement of the cutout. I really think you will surprise yourself!
This dress is no exception. It’s light, airy, fluttery, and comfortable. At 34 DDD or DD, I also love that I can go without a bra with this bad boy and feel well-supported!
But I love THIS dress for even more reasons! The price just CAN’T be beat! This dress costs less than MOST of you spent for your Sunday Funday. That’s right. IT IS ON SALE FOR UNDER $20!!! But hurry the heck up! Seriously. I have it in black and this green. You can check out my fun post about the black in this post.
My Look:
The Shoes: I am wearing my trusted and undeniably favorite “IT WEDGE” of the season. I have them in nude, black, and gray. They are SO comfortable and excellent quality. I wear them nonstop and they are on every blogger you can find! For a post on their fabulousness, check out my post here.
The Bra: Not wearing one! That’s right! I’m not going to say I can wear this dress for two days straight and not miss a bra, because my divas with larger chests know that you actually have discomfort and pain when not supported properly for an extended period of time. But I love that I can support the girls with these slinky straps for at least a lunch and dinner and still feel fab! Don’t forget to do the “swoop” that is always necessary for any bra, dress, or swimsuit! But if you just don’t feel comfortable without a strapless bra, check out my strapless bra roundup here.
The Bag: I LOVE this bag. And there is nothing more that I loathe than being “taken.” And in my book, being “taken” means buying something of the SAME quality for a ridiculously higher price. My bag is a fraction of the price of it’s “inspiration.” This bad boy comes in a ton of gorgeous colors. I have it in this color and black, and I just submitted the purchase for the mulitcolor one! SO CUTE!!!
The Sunglasses: I love a cute pair of cheap sunglasses. For a while I was obsessed with really expensive ones. Then I had one pair stolen, lost another, and broke the next. I was SO TURNED off at spending such an absurd amount of money on something that frankly wasn’t that worth it to me. So yes. IF you want to give me a pair of designer sunglasses, I’m not going to turn you down! But my $490 extra dollars saved when I buy a $10 pair can get me SO MUCH MORE. So there you have it. I love to buy cheaper, trendy glasses so I don’t feel so bad when inevitably they are ruined later. But hey. That’s just me. P.S. How NINETIES are these!?!?!? It cracks me up! The decade is back, Babies!!
Sad Update: So I’m super sad to have to update this post that my dress is currently out of stock. But I found some gorgeous cutout dresses that you can shop by checking out the slider below! Happy Shopping!
XOXO,
