I used to be a statement necklace junkie. My husband used to (truthfully) tease me that if my suitcase was overweight, all we had to do was remove my jewelry bag and my bag would miraculously lose eight pounds. But statement earrings have taken over the “statement” stage, and there is no sign of that trend letting up. So how does a “Statement Necklace Girl” convert to a “Statement Earring Girl”? Easy. You just accept the fact that you’re not forsaking your identity. You’re just shifting that identity to your newly evolved “Statement Jewelry Girl” and running with it!

Three Tips for Wearing Statement Earrings
1. DON’T COMPETE
It’s like the old adage your mom used to tell you. “Go tight, low cut, or short, but NOT all at the same time.” We all know there is an expressway leading you quickly from sexy to not so classy when you go too far. The same goes for statement pieces, in general. One needs to be the star of the show, or else you’re no longer making a statement. You’re screaming from all sides of the microphone. And when there’s too much noise, nobody actually hears what you’re saying. See what I did there with my sweet little metaphor? 😉
So if you want your statement earrings to really pop, don’t sport any other massive pieces. Don’t even be afraid to go bare-neck! There is something so beautiful about the uncovered collar bone of a woman with a classily low cut neckline and dangling earrings. I just love it!
2. PULL YOUR HAIR BACK
Although you can definitely look gorgeous with a full head of hear cascading down your shoulders while wearing statement earrings, nothing showcases them quite as nicely as pulling your hair back. Whether it’s up in a messy bun, a half up-do, or even just a subtle pin on one side of your hair, the proper hairstyle is essential in presenting an unobstructed view of your fabulous statement earrings.
3. CONSIDER COLOR
While it’s typical and perfectly appropriate to pick up the dominant color in your outfit and match the earrings to it, consider contrasting the color to really make the earrings pop. Wearing a green dress? Throw on those gorgeous yellow tassel earrings. Hot pink top? How gorgeous would some turquoise tear drop earrings look?!
