Top : Asos on Sale! // Pants : Asos // Shoes : Nordstrom // Earrings: The Design Hound // The Bag : Out of Stock but Pre-Owned at The Real Real
Cropped tops after 22? Yep! You can totally pull it off. Just put it ON the right way! Pairing a crop top with high-waisted flowy pants like these makes me feel a little sexy but also appropriate. Try the look with a less plunging neckline and you’ll be surprised to be able to wear a crop top almost anywhere!
The Top:
The key to wearing a crop top, in my opinion, is to not show too much skin. It’s a very different look to have your entire stomach showing down to your low rise hot pants. The look of this season is to show a little hint of skin in the midsection, not the entire thing. Like your momma used to say, “you can go short, tight, or low cut. But not all at the same time.” Since this particular top is so low cut, I like the fact that not much skin is showing elsewhere. This top is so cute and fun and hits me in just the right place. If I wear it with a slightly lower-waisted pant, you would see that sliver of skin that reveals it’s actually a crop top. But a crop top serves more purpose than just revealing skin. When paired with super high-waisted pants such as these, you don’t have to worry about the shirt coming untucked or bunching up as you would with a traditional shirt. Nor do you have the comfort issues or show-through of a body suit. With pants of this material, a body suit “panty line” would be visible. Not a good look.
sizing: I am wearing a size six in this top. I would say it runs true to the size chart. You can’t really wear a bra with this one, but it offers a bit of lift.
The Pants:
These pants are SO comfortable! I’m planning on taking them on vacay because they have the perfect amount of structure yet movability to be versatile enough for the plane or a night out. I love the flowy leg, but I will probably get them hemmed a bit as I fear they will drag too much and get dirty while exploring the Roman ruins! The material is light and relatively thin, but there is no show-through with the correct nude-colored undergarments.
sizing: I am wearing a size six in these pants. They run true to the size chart, but certainly run long on my 5’4″ build. I’m wearing my favorite wedge of the season which adds a ton of height, but you can still see I need further hemming.
The Bag:
I love this bag because it’s made of the signature high-quality leather inherent to Louis Vuitton and has a more subtle logo throughout the material than the traditional canvas bags. Of course I love the bright red color, and the fact that it zips completely at the top makes this one of my favorite travel purses. I don’t have to worry about things falling out when I put it under the airplane seat. Despite enthusiastic years of use, this bag is still in incredible shape. No rips, tears, or scratches. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Additionally, this bag is near and dear to my heart because my sweet husband surprised me with it a few years ago! Doesn’t he have great taste?!? As a result, however, it’s no longer available directly from Louis Vuitton BUT this is even better for you. Not only will you not see everybody and their momma wearing it, but you can now get it DEEPLY discounted. Did you know designer purse resale has become a HUGE thing? You can find this bag at less than half the original price in a gently-used condition on several websites. If you are going to buy a purse that has been “gently pre-owned,” make sure you read all the fine print. Be sure you see what defects the purse might have and ensure that you can live with them. Even better, check the return policy just in case you are less than thrilled with the condition once it arrives. Even if you’re paying only a third of the original price, you still might be paying one to two thousand dollars. And who wants to spend that on something they don’t love?
The Earrings:
These earrings are fun, flirty, and LIGHT! I can wear them all day and my ears don’t get sore, which is a big deal for this diva! They’re offered on a closed Facebook shopping page that you can request to join, The Design Hound. They have lots of cute accessories and clothing at excellent prices. Check them out!
The Shoes:
You can’t really see them here, but I am wearing my beloved “It” wedges of the season. Every blogger swears by these shoes, and rightfully so! For more info on them, check out the post dedicated to their greatness here.
