Hi! I’m Elisha! I’m sincerely excited that you have chosen to visit my blog. Thank you!
Who am I
I currently wear a few hats in life. I’m a mother, wife, attorney, HR and Recruiting Director for a dental office, psycho sideline screamer for all sports 6 year-old related (oops), and now… a blogger! My son, Espen, is 6, my husband, Sigurd, and I have been together since 2002, married since 2005. I began practicing law in 2007 in securities and shareholder litigation at a large International law firm. The firm was fantastic, but the work was unrewarding and impersonal. I began working as a criminal defense attorney at the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office in 2009 and absolutely loved the people I worked with and experiences I gained. As my son was about to begin kindergarten, however, I realized I wanted more flexibility to be present for him during these formative years and simultaneously was asked by my husband to help him in the administrative area of his growing dental practice. The contacts I had made and experience I had obtained over the eight years I spent at the PD’s office enabled me to take the leap of faith and start my own law firm, The Enoksen Law Firm, where I continue to represent mostly indigent clients, but also began branching out into other areas of law where there was a need. My husband and I love to travel, and having to log vacation days was a big buzz kill! Forming my own practice has enabled us to travel even more, so I have even more goodies to share with you!
Why I started this blog
I decided to start this blog not because I thought I was overly interesting or witty, but because it combines one of my very first few loves, writing, with several of my more recently established loves, travel and fashion. We cram quite a bit of living into this full and busy life, but we would have it no other way. I try to focus not just on doing and being and having, but really LIVING. And really LIVING to the fullest each of those incredible experiences. To juggle so many exciting adventures in life, I have found you have to make smart choices. Sometimes that’s smart financial choices, sometimes it’s doing research and reading reviews and planning your trip meticulously to make sure you hit all the highlights that are important to you, sometimes it’s knowing when to say “no” or just “not now.” For me, I find extreme comfort and satisfaction with planning. I know it stresses some people out, but it makes me excited! I like to know I’m not going to regret wasting time somewhere my son, Espen, isn’t going to appreciate or miss something exquisite that was just around the corner. I also LOVE hunting down the most beautiful and flattering clothes and products and knowing I didn’t spend a cent more than necessary for quality. But I realize not everyone likes these things! Some people hate shopping (gasp) and many would rather pay a travel agent to plan out their every move than deal with online reviews and research. And even if you’re the person who prefers to not have many travel plans and fly by the seat of your pants (pun intended), you have to admit you want to hit the highlights even if you do nothing else. So I decided to gather my discoveries and share them with you in hopes that everyone who comes to my page will glean a little something that will enhance their life in some way, even if it’s just to put a smile on your face. For more information on the backstory behind the name of my blog, please check it out here. Please enjoy and feel free to give me feedback! Is there something you’d like to see more of? Less of? This is a journey for me, and I believe if you don’t evolve, you become extinct. So talk to me!
XOXO
Elisha
