Dress: Free People // Bra: Nordstrom // Sandals: Nordstrom // Earrings: Kennth Jay Lane on SALE Neiman Marcus Last Call // Purse: Amazon
The Dress:
Guys. I am OBSESSED with this Free People dress. No, I didn’t name it, but I definitely could have. It IS THE LOVE OF MY LIFE. Okay, maybe don’t mention that to my husband and children, but seriously. I LOVE THIS DRESS. I have seen it on many different people, and it looks amazing on every body type. Seriously. Have I mentioned I’m serious? When a dress is this nice, you have to buy it twice. Or thrice… For me, I have it already in cream, red, and the dreamy light blue is on my horizon. Searching best prices for you guys I discovered it comes in a tangerine color. I think I’m in trouble. I have played around a lot with undergarments for this dress, so I wanted to give you the run down. If you don’t wear a bra, it has this soft, sexy, bohemian look. But with my complexion in the “Oatmeal”, there was too much see-thru for me to feel comfortable. I will rock it braless in the red all day long, but I prefer Nordstrom’s awesome low cut bra HERE for the cream. Because the dress is cut a bit sexily, you will definitely have some bustiness with the bra. I have worn this dress in a more professional setting and wore this super inexpensive little bralette from Forever 21 underneath HERE to make me feel more business appropriate. It’s actually super soft and comfortable and I liked the way it changed up the look a bit.
A little about Free People: Free People is a brand and also a physical and online store. But many other retailers carry the brand. I have found many other stores will carry different colors of the same staple item. Sometimes it’s a season behind as far as color, but the fit is the same. My point is to keep your eye out for sales at other stores if you’re not that concerned about having the most recent season’s color. I have done some research for you guys, and Free People (the online and in-person store) currently has this gorgeous dress in oatmeal, tangerine (I just saw this color and am drooling), cactus, and black. Lord and Taylor has it HERE in black, blue, ivory (which is the same as “oatmeal”), and burnt orange. PSA: Lord and Taylor has free shipping over $99, so this will ship free.
The Bra:
Everybody needs a little low cut bra every now and then. It’s not like the dresses have to be super skank-a-danky, it’s just some blouses are a little looser and slinky and a peak-a-boo bra is really not the jam for that outfit. This one is perfect and comes in nude or black!
The Shoes:
I’ve already talked a lot about my new favorite brand of shoe for cute comfort and travel. On my recent trip to Clearwater Beach, I lived in this brand of comfy sandals as I mentioned here and here. The fact is they honestly feel like I’m walking on clouds. I walked 5 plus miles in them and had ZERO issues. I can’t wait to wear them in Italy! I know they’re going to be perfect.
The Earrings:
I have been a statement necklace kind of girl for the last several years. My husband used to tease me all the time because if my suitcase was over in weight, I just had to remove my jewelry bag and my suitcase would lose eight pounds. Seriously. And I have this strange thing where sometimes my ears get sore from wearing earrings. But I’ve realized the new thing is statement earrings, and they are making them lighter and cuter than ever! So you’ll be seeing me wear a lot of earrings in the near future. And there is something just so pretty about a bare neck and upper chest with a pair of statement earrings. I am finally getting the appeal. These earrings are cute, lightweight, and versatile but the best part is they are on sale BIG TIME at Neiman Marcus Last Call.
The Bag:
The Cult Gaia Ark Bamboo Bag is without a doubt this season’s “it” bag. But with prices as high in some variants as $300, I am thrilled to share this awesome dupe for just $42.99!! With Amazon prime, I got it shipped for free in one day! If you don’t have Amazon Prime, they’re running a special right now to try it out for $5.99 a month. I use Amazon Prime for SO many things, and it’s totally worth it for me. I would advise you to compare prices of the things you would usually pay shipping for and see if you would come out on top. If so, Try Prime Discounted Monthly Offering with the preceding link.
Fit Info for it All:
- For the Dress: I find this dress to run true to the size chart. I’m wearing the size small. Some reviews mention it ran small, but I tried both the medium and small, and I’m glad I ended up with the small. I noticed the waist stretches out just a bit with wear, but the shoulders and other parts remain the same, leaving it perfectly fitted. I think if you prefer your clothes a bit more bohemian, size up. Otherwise go with the size chart.
- For the Bra: I followed the reviews and am glad I did. I went one band size up and kept my cup size the same. That was consistent with both the reviews and Nordstrom’s suggestion to order one cup size up. Does that math make sense? For my ladies out there, I hope you are familiar with “sister sizes” in bras. Much like “Sister Wives” on your favorite show, they help a sister out in some ways albeit in a slightly different form. Ya feel me?!? I’m sorry. Anyway, if you go up one band size, you should automatically go down one cup size. The sister size to a 34DD is a 36D. Therefore if you want to go UP a cup size from 34DD AND increase your band size, you should sit pretty at a 36DD. I hope that’s not too confusing! The band would be uncomfortable otherwise, and it’s not really a 24 hour bra anyway. Just need it to work with that sexy outfit you’re sporting.
- For the Shoes: I have these shoes in my normal size in the “wide” width. They feel like heaven.
Let me know if you order any of these! I’d love to hear what you think!
XOXO
