Strapless Bra Roundup : The Best Strapless Bras on the Market

Strapless Bra Roundup : The Best Strapless Bras on the Market

Strappy, sleeveless, strapless, and off-the-shoulder season is here! Although the “Free the Girls” movement is a fun one, it’s not really always that practical. Call it what you will. Over the shoulder boulder holder, bra, brassiere, torture device. But as many names as there are to describe them, there are TONS more to choose from. And over the years, I’ve experimented with lots of different styles, brands, and materials of strapless bras. In my years of yanking and pulling, pinching, and leaving indentions, I’ve discovered it’s actually NOT normal or acceptable to be uncomfortable all day regardless of how well endowed you are.  I won’t stand for that anymore! And I’m happy  to announce I’ve found a way to make my bras work with me, not against me!

First thing’s first.  Most women really ARE wearing the wrong size bra.  If you haven’t already, I suggest you go to a bra fit specialist at a reliable retailer to determine your correct size.  Back in the day, although I LOVE Victoria Secret, they didn’t have extended sizes.  And I remember them trying to put me in the wrong size bra because they didn’t have my cup size.  I wore the bra one day and had actual breast pain at the end of the day.  I was so irritated!  I don’t know if it’s because I was pregnant or because I felt bamboozled or both.  To be fair, the last few times I’ve gone there, they have done much better.  But if in doubt, hit up the bra section at Nordstrom or Dillards. Those ladies know their stuff!

Second, all these “strapless” bras really are “convertible” bras.  This means they have removable straps that when situated properly, can be worn as traditional, halter, crisscross, one-shoulder, or strapless.

Below I’ve rounded up my three favorite strapless bras that are tried and true. I hope you find some comfort and support in my post! See what I did there?! 😉

#1 Strapless Bra for Comfort

BEHOLD. The Mecca of Strapless Bras. Don’t let the stretch lace and flimsy appearance fool you. This is hands down the best strapless bra I have EVER owned. I have it in black and nude, and I recently replaced my nude one as I get so much wear out of it. It is SO comfortable! And I feared the lace would show through, but it is in invisible in most of my clothes due to its construction! Trust me on this.  You will be surprised.  I honestly forget I’m even wearing it, it’s SO comfortable. It doesn’t pinch, pull, slip, or stick you anywhere. And it is so craftily made, it offers top of the line support.  No more standing there pulling up your bra in public.  This baby doesn’t go ANYWHERE!

It features side support, convertible straps, silicone taping along the sweetheart neckline to avoid slippage, three column and two row hook and eye closure, inner support sling for DD and DDD, and molded cups since there is no padding.

Any downside?

Yes. Every bra has its functions.  So although I call it a “downside,” it’s really just a matter of functionality.  Each of the bras I’ve selected has it’s function and purpose, which is why I own all three.  So keep in mind this bra is not lined.  I haven’t found this to be a problem for me because I don’t wear it with slinky or silky materials as this isn’t a “t-shirt” type bra.  The shirts and dresses I wear it with don’t permit “see through.”

This bra also doesn’t provide cleavage and it won’t work with plunge shirts or dresses.  But for everyday wear with comfort in mind, this bra can’t be beat!

#1 Push Up Strapless Bra

Wait. Comfort AND cleavage? Shut your mouth!  Wacoal is one of my favorite bra brands because it offers SO many band and cup sizes and fits the needs of a variety of women.  It’s such a dependable manufacturer, Nordstrom and Dillards bra specialists use their bras as their “fit try on” bra when determining your perfect size.

This super supportive bra creates comfortable lift and legit cleavage!  Note:  you need to do the “swoop the girls” when you put it on.  But you should do this with all bras, by the way! It is lined for no show-through and molds to your body with a strap width that widens with increased size.  It stays put, doesn’t slide around or pinch, and is not bulky underneath a more form-fitting outfit.  Reviews online agree with me.  You won’t believe a strapless bra can lift like this.  You will love this bra!

Any downside?

Some merchants call this the “Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra” and some refer to it as the “Red Carpet Full Figure Underwire Strapless Bra.”  It’s the same thing.  But the downside is this does not come in “A” cups.

#1 Best Serious Cleavage-Creating Strapless Bra

Prepare yourself to be a pin-up showstopper!  I love this longline bra!  Most longline bras have boning on the exterior which just doesn’t make sense to me.  Unless the garment you’re wearing is extremely thick and structured (like a wedding gown), a longline bra with boning on the exterior is going to show right through!  This material is genius. It holds you in through the torso area and creates incredible cleavage for those sexy strapless numbers in your closet.

This also works on halter dresses or shirts. I’ve worn convertible bras with a halter strap over the neck, but it usually digs in and creates shoulder and neck pain after a short while. This piece is the perfect solution for those outfits. Most other longline bras have a very high back which isn’t practical for any of the clothing I’d wear it with.  Again, it would work for a wedding gown, but — been there, done that!  This lower back is actually lower than a normal bra, which is another awesome selling point for me!

I own it in nude and black in my usual bra size, and it really is a fabulous addition to your closet.  If you prefer to shop Amazon or Amazon Prime, use this link for this bra.

Any downside?

Yes.  This is a longline bra, so it could be too hot in warmer climates.  Because it also works as a bit of a waist cincher, it’s also not the very most comfortable of the lot.  But it’s not unbearable by any means.  It would be fair to say it fits pretty much how it looks.  It’s probably not the item you want to wear to Thanksgiving dinner, but its the perfect solution for a unique wardrobe  dilemma.

So there you have it!  Those are my selections for strapless bras!  I’d love to hear from you if you have any other suggestions!  A girl has to help a girl out, while helping our girls out! ;).

XOXO
